Dangerous Goods Licence Summary

The Dangerous Goods Licence takes two (2) days to complete and is intended for persons who wish or are required by law to obtain a Dangerous Goods Drivers Licence. Dangerous Goods Training is conducted on-site at our Newcastle premises (MAP), and also in Sydney (map) twice per month - once on a weekend, and once during the week. Full Dangerous Goods Licence costs $575 + licensing fee with NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA).

Who Is This Course For?

For persons who wish or are required by law to obtain a dangerous goods drivers licence in NSW - regular courses in Sydney and Newcastle.

About The Course

This course provides the knowledge of dangerous goods road transport legislation and the Australian Dangerous Goods Code (ADG 7).

Upon successful completion of the course the driver is able to approach their State or Territory Regulatory Authority and apply for the issue of that State or Territory's Driver Authorisation/Licence.

The two day course covers all aspects of the Australia Dangerous Goods (ADG) Code and the relevant legislation including Classification, Marking, Documentation, Stowage and load restraint, Segregation and Compatibility plus Responsibilities of the individuals involved.

A dangerous goods driver licence is only required for transport of dangerous goods in the following cases:

• In a receptacle with a capacity of more than 500L.
• If there is more than 500kg in a single receptacle.
• In the case of intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), where the total capacity of all IBCs is more than 3000L or where any IBC is filled or emptied while on the vehicle.

Licence Application Requirements

To drive a licensed dangerous goods vehicle you must hold a dangerous goods driver licence. Most licences are now valid for five years.

In NSW the Dangerous Goods Drivers Licence is issued by the Environment Protection Authority (EPA).

To apply for a driver licence you need to:

• Complete the training course provided by 123 Training Solutions ~ An approved training provider.
• Be medically fit ~ Complete the required Medical Fitness Form
• Have a satisfactory driving history. ~ You must include a RMS (RTA) Certified Driving History report which has been issued within the last six (6) months.
• Provide identification. ~ A passport-style photograph (shoulders-up, with plain background), and a photo of the front of your vehicle driver's licence.
• Complete the online application, and pay the application fee. ~ currently $63*

Qualifications

123 Training Solutions conduct the Dangerous Goods Licence course in partnership with and on behalf of Raise Training (RTO Number: 91655).

Participants will receive a Statement of Attainment. TLILIC0001 - Licence to transport dangerous goods by road.

Course Duration

Whether you require a licence for the first time or are renewing your existing licence, the duration of the course is a mandatory 2 or more days, consisting of a minimum 16 hours of supervised training and assessment.

For any students also participating in SLP training this is conducted outside the minimum 16 hours required for the dangerous goods licence course.

Course Cost

Full Course $575 ~ Not Including licensing fee charged by NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA).

• Payment is due prior to commencing training and can be made online beforehand or in person on the day. Please note that unpaid bookings are not guaranteed and may be released to other participants if the course reaches capacity.
