Coronavirus | How it spreads and how to stay safe
Publish Date: 6th March 2020
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last couple of months, then you would have heard at least something about the Coronavirus situation both here in Australia and overseas.
I have certainly felt like every day there is something new in the media coverage. With everything from additional confirmed cases, through to it having huge impacts on the stock exchange and our tourism industry. And all that is before we start talking about people panic buying toilet paper to last them the rest of the year. I mean, I have to be honest, I never would have expected to go to my local grocery store and not be able to buy toilet paper.
And it’s not just toilet paper, many shoppers are stocking up on canned and dry goods, as well as rice and pasta. This is happening in enough places that some grocery stores are placing limits on the number of items individual shoppers can buy.
Much of this sort of behaviour is a result of panic, fear, and even just general misunderstanding. Don’t get me wrong, this virus is a serious situation, and I don’t want to make light of that situation. However, there are some very simple things that can be done to both stop the spread and to stay safe during this outbreak. Interestingly enough, these are things that I am sure we were all told to do as children during flu season. We’ve put together two posters below with information obtained from the Australian Department of Health website, and have tried to make them as simple and direct as possible.
We hope they help, or are useful in some way, so feel free to share these with friends, family, or work colleagues that may be concerned.
There are links to poster size PDFs as well, so feel free to print and display these at your business or worksite. You can even embed the images on your website with the embed codes below.
