Who Is This Course For?
The course is suitable for anyone who currently holds a SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training Card for either Traffic controller (TCR) or Implement traffic control plans (IMP), or both (formerly known as the Blue Card, and Yellow Card respectively).
It revisits key concepts across traffic management to ensure your knowledge and skills are sharp, and up to date with current NSW regulations.
About the Course
While the SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training Card doesn't expire, it is an industry recommendation to perform refresher training every 2–3 years to stay up to date with current regulations and practices.
The course offered here at 123 Training Solutions is designed to provide a thorough look over the content of the Traffic Controller & Implement Traffic Control Plans skillsets (RIISS00054 & RIISS00055), focusing on any changes in the last 2 years, to ensure that your knowledge and skills are in line with current NSW regulations and practices.

Training Outline
During this course, students will revisit:
- Stopping/directing road users including stopping sight distances, and using various equipment (stop/slow bat, traffic lights, batons etc).
- Maintaining traffic incident reports and a daily diary.
- Understand the Traffic Control Guidance Schemes (TCGSs) also known as Traffic Control Plans (TCPs) for the site.
- Assess and respond to changes in the environment e.g. traffic volumes, weather conditions, road conditions, Work Health and Safety (WHS) and operational requirements.
- Carry out risk assessments for personal safety.
- Participate in toolbox talks (specific to traffic control).
- Use communication methods and devices that include verbal and non-verbal.
- Conform to traffic control policy and procedure.
What if I only need refresher training for blue card (TCR), or yellow card (ITP) – but not both?

Class Size
Maximum class size for this course is 12.
Course Requirements
Prior to commencing the course, students will need:
- A current SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training Card (class TCR, or IMP, or both)
- Photo ID with your current address
- An understanding of English – both written and spoken
On Site & Group Courses
We are more than happy to arrange to do on-site & group courses. We charge a minimum fee of $1500, which covers a group of up to 5 participants (additional participants, up to a maximum of 12, are charged at $300 per person). Call or email for details on available dates.
To conduct a course at your site, you'll also need a quiet piece of road, with good sight distance and safe passage for pedestrians.
Outcome/Qualifications
123 Training Solutions conduct Traffic Control Refresher courses in partnership with, and on behalf of Commonsense Safety Training (RTO code 41347). Commonsense Safety Training is not CRICOS Registered. For information on privacy see their Privacy Notice.
Successful participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
